Purchasing the Electronic Multifaith Calendar (online) grants the employees of your organization the right to access the Electronic Multifaith Calendar. All rights, titles, and copyright in the Electronic Multifaith Calendar, including, but not limited to, text, data, graphics, HTML coding, emails, and screen displays or layout are exclusively owned by Multifaith Action Society of BC.

Reproduction of any portion of this Calendar (printed or electronic versions) is in direct violation of copyright law and subject to legal action.

Electronic Multifaith Calendar (e.MFC) — Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the Electronic Multifaith Calendar ("e.MFC," "the Service") collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information. It applies to institutional administrators who manage a calendar tenant and to individuals who log in to administer a tenant's calendar. It does not apply to members of the public who simply view a published calendar, since no personal information is collected from public viewers.

2. Who We Are

e.MFC is owned and published by the Multifaith Action Society of BC (MAS). The Service is developed and technically operated on MAS's behalf by Cornerstone Software.

3. What Personal Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide administrative access to the Service:

• Name
• Email address
• Password (stored as a one-way cryptographic hash; we never store or have access to your plain-text password)

We do not collect financial information, government identification numbers, health information, or other sensitive personal information through the Service. Payment for the Service is handled separately by cheque and is not processed, stored, or transmitted through the Service itself.

4. Cookies

The Service uses a single session cookie to keep you securely logged in while you use the administrative area. This cookie:

• Is required for the Service to function (you cannot log in without it)
• Does not track you across other websites
• Is not used for advertising, profiling, or analytics
• Expires when your session ends or times out

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising cookies (e.g., Google Analytics) at this time.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use your name, email, and password solely to:

• Authenticate you and control access to your organization's calendar administration area
• Communicate with you about your account or the Service (e.g., support requests)

We do not use your personal information for marketing, do not sell it, and do not use it to train any artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

6. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not share your personal information with any third party, except:

• Our hosting provider (SiteGround), which stores the data on our behalf as part of providing web hosting infrastructure. SiteGround does not have independent access to use this data for its own purposes.
• Where required by law, such as in response to a valid legal request from a Canadian court or law enforcement authority.

We do not share data with any other third-party service, vendor, or advertiser.

7. Where Your Information Is Stored

Your information is stored on servers operated by our hosting provider, SiteGround, located in the United States. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information may be stored and processed outside of Canada.

8. How We Protect Your Information

• Passwords are never stored in plain text; they are stored using a one-way cryptographic hash.
• All data transmitted between your browser and the Service is encrypted using SSL/TLS.
• Administrative access to the underlying system is limited to Cornerstone Software, the Service's technical operator, for the purpose of maintaining and supporting the platform.

No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We take reasonable steps appropriate to the size and nature of the Service to protect your information.

9. How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain your personal information for as long as your administrator account remains active. If your organization's relationship with the Service ends, or upon your written request, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, subject to any residual copies retained temporarily in routine hosting-provider backups, which are cycled out over time in the ordinary course of business.

10. Data Retention & Account Closure

When an institution's use of the Service ends, we will export their calendar data and provide it to the institution's designated contact within 5 business days. Administrator access is deactivated immediately.

The institution's data is then deleted from our live systems within 30 days.

Any copies retained in routine backups are cycled out automatically within the same 30-day window as part of our hosting provider's standard backup rotation.

11. Your Rights

You may contact us at any time to:

• Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your personal information (subject to Section 10 above)
• Ask questions about how your information is handled

12. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for use by institutional administrators and is not directed at or intentionally used by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page with a revised effective date.
